The Rye-Lewis Family Ancestry began as a presentation I assembled for the Rye Family Reunion, an annual event honoring the memory of my great-grandparents, Curt and Florence Rye. My grandmother chose "Back to Our Roots" as the theme for our 2000 reunion, held in Hamilton, Alabama. She wanted everyone to reflect on our ancestry as we entered the new millenium.

My sources for this project were The Heritage of Marion County, Alabama (© 2000 The Marion County Heritage Book Committee); A Jeffreys Family (© 1984 Allen Ray Jeffreys); and, most of all, my grandmother's vast store of photographs, memories, and anecdotes.
